Amanda Guerrero is a website copy editor for the Automobile Club of Southern California.
She previously worked as a copy editor for the Orange County Register, editing content for the paper’s weekly community publications, as well as the daily news, local, business and feature sections.
Before coming to the Register, Guerrero spent some time in Washington. What started as a 10-week summer internship at The Seattle Times extended to six months as a temporary employee.
Most of Guerrero’s workweek at The Times was spent on production for the Sunday NW Arts&Life section. She gathered staff-generated and wire content; assisted with copy editing and headline writing; reviewed all hard-copy proofs and Web previews; and posted content online.
Although drawn into journalism by print media, Guerrero knows how to handle a still and video camera. She is familiar with a variety of software (Adobe InDesign, Final Cut Pro and Soundtrack Pro) and content management/production systems (AP ENPS, CCI, Ellington and Methode).
Guerrero graduated from San Diego State University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and media studies. While attending SDSU, she worked as a copy editor and news writer for The Daily Aztec. She also interned for KPBS and Patch.com.
